Getting into the swing of things.....

Wow.  The weeks have really flown by.  I can't believe Oct. 4th marks the end of the first six weeks for my Kindergarten bunch.  We have fallen more into our daily schedules and the kids seem to be enjoying school so much!  Here is what we have been up to since the last post.....

Texture

We studied our 5 senses.  This activity was geared toward exploring our sense of Touch. Soft, smooth, rough, bumpy and hard were the textures we explored. We traced around our hand in pencil, then traced again in marker, and used Glue Gal to paste items on our hands.

 I did it!!

....and we took silly pictures with seatmates.

No!!! David! Activity

Cutting out David was challenging.

David has sooo many body parts!!  I'm going to cut very slowly and place all cut pieces in my box. :)

We spread out all over the classroom, so maybe we didn't lose David's noses, arms, or ears.

Chester Raccoon and the Big Bad Bully by Audrey Penn

On Thursday, we read the titled book.  On Friday, we borrowed Mrs. Konarek's idea for the students to create Chester the raccoon using heart shapes.  We had one big brown heart for the head. Two large/medium sized hearts for the mask, 1 small heart for the nose and two medium hearts for the ears.  A wonderful parent precut the hearts for us and we had a ball creating the raccoons!

"A Dab of  Glue will do...."

Thursday was also my birthday!  Caleb gave me an awesome necklace.  :)  My students also stocked me up on Dr.Pepper and Snickers.  I also received many cards.  Mrs. Konarek hand delivered Sonic breakfast! To say the least, I was quite spoiled!!
